Vegas 6 crashes when opening a large V5 project

Just to pour some oil in the fire:
I have tried to open a Vegas 5 project that I've been working on for month with Vegas 6.
Every time I tried it, V6 crashed "An Error occured during the current operation. An Exception has occured. Unknown Error. No Details available."

Sony Vegas 6.0
Version 6.0a (Build 99)
Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) READ:0x51023F1 IP:0x56C6C2
In Module 'vegas60.exe' at Adress 0x400000 + 0x16C6C2
Thread: VideoCache ID=0xF24 Stack0x3AEF000-0x3AF0000
....

The crashed appeared right after the progress bar went to 100%, just when Vegas 6 started to build the new proxy files ("0% (2 of 1.990)")

This is a 1-1/4 hour DV-only project with lots and lots of tracks, cuts, transitions, markers etc.
I also have some of the chapters available as separate VEG files and individually they open fine in V6.

During all the time I've been working on this project Vegas 5 never let me down. Now Vegas 6 can't even open it (and I've tried several times). That's unbelievable. I thought this only happened to users of Pinnacle products...

maybe try opening up both V5 and V6, and cut and paste it, eg group stuff together, from V5 to the V6 timeline? a section at a time, til it's all over there?

then again, just forget V6 for now .. like V5 it looks buggy as heck to me...

not worth impacting my workflow over..

send them the project in an email. Hopefully they can figure it out with that
