since you still think you know what I am doing better than me:

10 minutes is short... Difference is whether I have to baby sit and swap/start/swich/ rewind etc for some 260min, vr. putting a six hour tape write job on to run.

26 DVDs... I make individual dvd for clients at events. Do you think I am just a kiddie making trouble??? www.horsenhounds.com for more info. tapes are stored, and 1TB of disk takes care of near term needs. Glad you keep a copy - I don't nor do a have a need... and 26 at average of 45m is 3-6hr tapes. Not advanced math....

quality - read answer again...

stated purpose - read first again. my stated purpose was to load the ac3 files that vegas created for DVDA. Yes it is to create a tape, but that wasn't the issue, Better is in the mind of the beholder. I could also simply reload the veg files and tapes and output to tape...

I need to be able to read the ac3 files. I will likely just do a batch convert to a "sony" allowed format and continue. Yes I have the vob files and the mpg2/ac3 files.

And the truely amazing thing, is that you clearly assume you know/understand more than me - by extension, probably the rest of the group - truely amazing !!

'nuff private discourse. it is clear that Sony isn't fixing or listening to problems. The fact that this has been mentioned multiple times in th forum and the recent tread of other bug and lack of attention support that view. Update/fixes, Sony apparantly thinks that is a new version - probably on my next version of vegas for some time... v4-v5-v6 - the end.

Rusty, rather than continue to torture yourself, why not just hire a young kid to do the job for you? It's not that difficult to hit record, pause, swap DVDs, and hit record again.

Well, you could try this freebie.

Not only does the decoder cost money, but the time to program and debug the software has to be taken into account.

Weigh that against sales, will having the AC3 import in Vegas generate more sales? Maybe, maybe not, but as someone said earlier, most people who buy vegas are not doing this type of work.

But I also think that everyone has a right to request improvements/additions to any software. They just shouldn't get upset if it doesn't happen.

Strange - My Vegas 6 show up audio from ac3.
I drag a vob file with ac3 and it's show up.

I suspect that this may be the womble mpeg wizard that I have or something else that
I have. Can only say at a later date.I
