I've loaded Vegas 6 and I'm wondering whether the Cineform Connect HD software I have already installed (bought a while ago) is sufficient or better or worse or will cause a conflict if I also install the version on the V6 disk. Have you all installed both versions?
In terms of compatibility, depending on which one you bought from Cineform, it should work just fine. I think the only difference is how the rendering tool functions and what it asks for. I've got both installed here, and no problems
Thanks Spot. The version I bought was Connect HD v1.6 and this has been working very well indeed. My interpretation was that the version supplied on the Vegas 6 disk would load into the same directory (ie Cineform/Connect HD) so I stepped back from installation to think about that. Not knowing whether Vegas 6 contained a preconception about where plugins will be located, or if there is something special about the Sony HD plugin, I didn't take the obvious option of creating a different folder.
As an aside, the FX1 is very satisfactory and I'm very impressed with image quality projected using a Sony VPL-HS10 machine (compared to 16mm film). The 8bit brightness range is limiting (compared to film) but this can be handled with graduated filters and lighting control. Those 3.5mm jack plugs are the only thing I don't like (something unusual about the sockets so one has to be very particular about the plug one uses).
