Vegas 6: RAM?

Hey Guys,

I'v been editing on the same system since Vegas 3.

A DELL Dimension 8200, P4 2.00Ghz, 512RDRAM... never had a problem. Up until Vegas 6 (4 and 5) the memory consumption when Vegas is idle with a project open has been around 300MB. With Vegas 6b I am suddenly using a stagerring 600MB.

I have defraged, turned Dynamic RAM render to 64MB and have no other program running... I can't imagine what the problem is. Is Vegas 6 just a resource hog?

I have noticed that V6 sucks up more ram than V5 by a bunch. Don't no why. On of the reasons is the SQL server which draws 22 megs.
Matrox dual monitor 22 megs.

yep...disable media manager and memory usage goes back to much more reasonable values.
