But I bet the good folks at Madison are working flat out to make it happen for me.
It still works in ACID Pro5. So now I leave an instance of ACID5 open use the Media Manager from there and drag Media from there.
At the moment MM wont load but when now, at least, does crash Vegas. I just get an "empty" MM Panel. When I attempt to then CTRL+ALT+4 it crashes Vegas.
you've probably tried this, but did you delete the default media library that it tries to open in Vegas? Then, the next time you open Vegas it will create a new one. I had this problem too and that seemed to fix it.

Grazie,
What exactly happens when you try to load MM? Error messages?
A bug has been fixed that could cause Vegas to crash after copying and pasting Bézier mask keyframes between events.
That one makes me happy - it was always un-nearving - that if I accidentally clicked with the mask creation tool, it would crash just after I copied the keyframes of a bezier mask for only part of an animation or something.
Yes, the AVC Mainconcept encoder ist the most important improvement. Supports HD resolution, too. The 2-pass encoding quality is good, stick to that. Have fun with the new encoder...
In the "known issues" section of the release notes on the download page, there is something about upgrading Acid 5 or something if you want Media Manager to work with Vegas.
Check it out, hopefully that's the key.
Dave
Edited: here it is:
If you want to use the Media Manager with ACID 5.0 and Vegas 6.0 software, please install the ACID 5.0a update.
Wow, just noticed the Ipod video support as well. My lord, I thinkt his has turned out to be one of my favorite updates (first being the HD support from way back when.)
I just want to say one thing to the Sony developers to addition of H.264 AVC. Thank you. When you could have held this back for Vegas 7 release, you chose to make it available before then at no additional charge. As a cost concious user, I am DEEPLY grateful for this.
If anything, it only increases my anticipation for Vegas 7 and what new features you could have possibly come up with. This just solidfies my use and loyalty to sticking with the Vegas product line.
So Madison is listening to everyone's concern! Great work guys, Vegas is the future! Now guys, just add GPU support for Vegas7 and leave FinalCut and Adobe in the woods.
Is there any place to find out what the specific fixes to MM are? (My problem was that it would crash - and take Vegas with it - whenver I was editing tags.)
It looks more and more like Vegas 7/DVDA 4 will be focussed around the HD DVD/BD generation.
WRT to H.264 AVC in V6d, it looks like Sony is using Mainconcepts older version (latest v2 support High Profile) so theres hope for High Profile support in V7.
Is anyone else experiencing a humongus amount of time rendering to 720p H.264 AVC? For 45 seconds, its taking nearly 25 minutes for a 2 pass at 2MB. Not trying to gripe but I could render out to Cineform and then use Recode to encode using more intensive settings and still take 10 minutes less than it takes with V6d.
Does anyone know if the H.264 AVC has been optimized for speed?
Do you have another computer available to install MM on to see if it works? Sounds like you have another program that uses SQL Server that is messing you up.
methinks this is hinting at BluRay movie delivery.. i mean why bother with H.264 with 2 pass in HD fmat, when there are a variety or other formats available??
WIll blue ray movies be encoded to H.264?? We are yet to be advised of he actual movie format will be the standard for use with BluRay.. but judging from what this in itself is hinting, im begining to believe the H.264 wil be the codec of choice..
"Sounds like you have another program that uses SQL Server that is messing you up." . . .well . . .
Madison have had me run "exhuastive" verbose and system reports/checks on my NLE MONSTA! and thus far have drawn a blank. But they are working on it. I believe in them.
Dave, don't forget, that currently and before, Media Manager works in ACID5 Pro. Again, Madison know this and they feel that this isn't the media that is causing it.
I had MM working in Vegas6 > V6b, it was only ONLY when I updated to V6c that MM went AWOL - and only in V6c - in ACID5 pro it is still, even now, working.
To the best of my knowledge these are the only two apps that are using it. And whatever that was ON my NLE machine was there, and is still there on and before Vegas 6/b/c/d.
Case Study? Oh yes .. . Madison is really interested.
I got time.
No one has yet suggested this, but the easiest and, IMHO, the dumbest thing to do would be to reformat my drives and reinstall. This "could" cure the results, but it wouldn't tell Madison anything. I'd just be another NLE editor having "cured" this bad walnut by using a sledgehammer.
Putting and running it on another machine would tell me it works. Hey, we got that already with all the happy editors out there using, changing and editing TAGs and what not already. Can only be me. Now THAT Madison finds interesting . ..
