Vegas 7 Hangs on Launch

newhope wrote on 10/19/2006, 5:03 PM
Since I installed Vegas 7 I've had occasional hangs on launching which can only be exited by rebooting the computer.

Over the last two days this has become a permanent occurrence however if I launch a second instance of Vegas 7 it will run normally while the other is laft hung.

This isn't something I want to continue. I've searched the forum but haven't found any references or cures.

The hang happens as Vegas is 'creating windows' at a point just prior to loading the last Vegas session. I'm not sure if it is the Media Manager causing the hang or another process but I'm left with 'white' windows and a permanetly hung application indicating it is 'not responding' that even the task manager won't close.

Any ideas on how to cure this problem?

If you get the second instance of Vegas up, disable the Media Manager, then close out and reboot. See if that clears it up.

You installed .net v2 when prompted, correct?

Hi

I have had almost the same problem once on an install and I think it was the mediamanager that caused it - not quite sure why though...

Thanks for the replies.

My thoughts were that it probably was Media Manager causing the problem.

I relaunched holding down the Control and Shift keys to clear the cache and, after resetting all my usual parameters, screen layouts and some arguments with Vegas about finding my Mackie Control I have it working again.

It turned out to be a faulty midi driver installation for my Midimate which drives the Mackie Control Mixer.

Took a while to find it but having uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it all's well in the world.

Don't know what caused it to become corrupt in the first place but ....
