Anandtech got to run some time demos with the upcoming Intel quad core, "Kentsfield." This cpu is basically two core 2 duos slapped onto one substrate. It should be available in November and most current 965/975X mobos should be able to run it with a bios update.
Anyway, Vegas 7 seems to be working those 4 cores pretty hard from the Anandtech results here:

Seeing how fast the "normal" Core 2 Duo performs, these quad core chips must be a real treat to using with Vegas 7.
My own unofficial tests also show Vegas to finally be multithreading as it should in V7.
