............... I have the credit card already for purchase..............
Why would you buy it without downloading the demo first and making sure the features are beneficial to your needs ?

It's called VVGTHIN syndrome (Vegas Video Got To Have It Now)

Yeah, short of being an XDCAM HD owner, why would anyone buy this minor upgrade without playing with the demo. Remember, we are generally a community of PC users so don't start acting like a member of a cult. That should be reserved for FCP users on Apples.

1. Who says it's minor?

2. For the HDV editing improvements - reason to upgrade on its own, though I'm confident there'll be lots more ...

3. I've never yet been disappointed in a new version of Vegas.

Any expected time of release?

Sony will be showing it at IBC and the exhibition hall doesn't open until Sept. 8 so my guess is to patient for one more day.

I thought someone had said a Sony Rep had confirmed a Sept 7 release?

My evaluation is based on the list of features---I will of course demo the product but I am certainly not pulling out my credit card until I do.

That was me, and it was a Sony customer service guy, but maybe he didn't know.

Because it has a feature I need and I know for a fact that V7 has it and its worth the price of the upgrade for me either way. Thats why Ill buy it without the trial.

Now that makes sense. You upgrade if you need a new feature.

I never played with a demo - and upgraded immediately from V4 zu V5 and from V5 to V6. And that was always worthwile to do so.

Ok, I played with the demo before I bought Vegas4 at all.

Both Vegas 5 and 6 were announced / released on the Monday towards the end of the conference / convention Sony was exhibiting in at the time. I would expect that Vegas 7 will follow suit.

Maybe the CS rep was simply saying that the conference at which V7 would be announced starts today. That or he made an assumption. ;)

I like porches but I sure wouldnt buy the new model without runnin it through a few trials. But i am a huge advocate of buyer beware, plus a cheap a@@. ,but thats just me:)

One thing I noticed about the press release was surround audio encoding for WMV files. I don't think that is in V6, or anywhere else afaik. I've been interested in making HD WMV video with surround to distribute Independent movies.
p@mast3rs wrote on 9/7/2006, 11:06 AM
You can do surround encoding for Wm9 you just have to select the appropriate template after you have created your 5.1 project. I do it all the time.

Does anyone in the 'know', know if they've improved/updated their SDK and interfaces? ie Directx9, DirectShow, new and improved SDK using them?
