Vegas 7 will not install

trevster1 wrote on 9/14/2006, 3:42 AM
During installation a message appears "could not open key Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Sony\Media Software. Verify you have sufficient access to that key or contact support personnel".
However it seemed to still proceed to install.
When I went to open Vegas 7(for the first time), I entered the new Serial numberbut nothing happened, it just kept highlighting the Serial number but not going anywhere or displaying any message.
Please help anybody.

What operating system are you running? If it's Windows XP, make sure your user account has Administrator access.

For more information, refer to Microsoft's online Help & Support page:
What is an administrator account?

No problem, someone was having a similar problem to this with the Apple iTunes installation, here is the article.

Error 1406 or 1402 appears when you install iTunes or QuickTime for Windows

I believe a solution is provided. See if it works for you and let me know!

Make sure you DON'T have more than one Administrators open at same time. If so log one off. I fell into this one.

Thanks Jonathan Neal, I will go through those steps first thing tomorrow when I am fresh, as it looks like clear thinking is a must.
