Vegas 8.0c Save-As mxf?

I have been following the Cineform vs mxf discussion. I generally use Neo Scene to convert my files before editing. But I thought I would give mxf a try. I used the Proxy Stream script to convert some video to mxf. I have a single clip that is about 20 minutes long and I'm only using about 5 minutes of it. I tried to used the Save-As option that includes the media to trim down the original mxf so I have less material to archive with the project. The procedure works fine with a Cineform avi file, but I when I use the Save-As option with an mxf file Vegas always seems to copy to the entire file. I have not tried this with Vegas 9 (its a bit too unstable).

I can work around this by manually rendering some regions, but it is certainly less convenient than the Save As option. Is there something I am missing? Or is the a bug in 8.0c?

thanks,
rich

The MXF discussion has been referring to V9, not 8.0c--the MXF options are considerably different.

Based on my experience so far, Vegas 9 is not unstable, especially when it comes to working with and rendering MXf files. Just last week I completed a new project in v9 without a single hic-cup.

"Save as" generally copies entire mpg/m2t files because of the long GOP. Conforming clips to their length as used in the project would usually result in splitting in the middle of a GOP. I suspect that is your problem with mxf files as well. This is not a bug.
