Vegas 8 and Win 7 64

I'm running 8c on a Vista 32 laptop and XP 32 desktop without issue. I just purchased a new computer running Win 7 64.

I primarily edit HDV files from my HV20 or .mov files from my 5DII. I don't edit AVCHD.

I don't want to upgrade to Vegas 9.

Any suggestions on whether I should I run Vegas 8.1 on my new Win 7 64 machine, or stick with 8c?

Use both, each for its advantages. Both can be installed on the same machine.

Hmmm... perhaps a quick summary of the advantages/disadvantages of each on that OS if I might ask?

Everybody seems to agree that 8c is robust and stable. Search this forum for limitations in 8.1. As far as I know the most serious limitations are in the limited plug-ins available for 8.1. I am not an expert; I have never seriously used 8.1. I am now using 8.0c and 9.0c x64.

Vegas Pro 8.1 was based on 8.0b and 8.0c introduced new features, specifically in the trimmer window enhancements, that are not in 8.1 along with all the bug fixes that are in 8.0c and not in 8.1. Personally, I would use 8.0c if you don't want to upgrade to Vegas Pro 9.
