Vegas 8 Output to tape

We have just gotten V8 and are having trouble outputting it to tape.

We can capture. We have tried 3 different mini dv/dvcam decks. The old Vegas 4 that we still have on the computer does output to any of the decks we have tried. The computer is relatively new with XP on it.

The only issue that I see is that it is not recognizing any of the devices in the print to tape mode. Decks used are: JVC BR-DV3000, Sony GVD 1000 and GVHD 700

TIA

This issue does not seem to generate much response from any of the true professionals that are here in the vegas forums. I don't beleive that this method is used in the daily workflow of these veterans that are usually generous with advice. Hopefully you have found a solution to your problem by now. I typically never have a problem with the deck being recognized by vegas. I firewire (6pin to 4pin) back to the camera straight from the timeline. I usually will plug into the computer first then into the camera while the camera is off. Then switch the camera to VCR mode (will not recognize if it is camera mode). The camera is then recognized and I can choose print to tape. I ran into a problem before when I forgot to flip the protection tab on the tape. It took me forever to realize that I had the tape save protected and Vegas would not ecognize the device.

Good Luck,

joe

Wow, Swarrine, haven't seen you around for a while, and I missed this post (apparently others did too).
Does XP see the decks? Are they seen in the System dialog?
In Vegas, are you using the correct tool to PTT? If by chance you're using the HDV print tool, it won't see the DV deck, nor will the deck by name, be seen as an option.
When you cycle the deck, does it pop the DV dialog for Vegas?

I stand corrected! Spot to the rescue.

Glad you could take a break from the Great BluRay Debate.........it seems like that one could last awhile.
