Vegas 8b + Edirol UA-5, audio off sync recording

Hi,

I have Vegas 8b and Edirol UA-5 with latest 3.0.1 drivers.

When I record audio it's always early by about 20ms compared to the tracks already recorded. Although I hear it in time when I play to the music.

Ive been recording with the same setup for 3 years now. Only thing changes is I updated Vegas from V6 to V8. I think the problem really began after updating to V8b but Im not sure.

I've tried to adjust the "User Offset" to -20ms but this slider doesnt seem to do anything. Ive tried extreme settings and it doesnt seem to work at all. Also fiddled with other settings a lot but nothing seems to change. I have to push the recorded audio forward by 20ms to get it in sync.

Any help would be much appreaciated!

It sounds like you're experiencing record monitor latency. While recording do you hear yourself through Vegas's input monior or via the Edirol? Ideally you would have vegas input monitoring off and adjust the latency of the Edirol to the minimum (but I don't know that device.)
There are also effects buffer settings. Does this happen if there are no processes present (no eq, reverb, etc?)

Hi Jesse and thanks for the help,

Im using Edirol for in and out. The bad thing is that there is no way to adjust any settings on the Edirol. Thats a bit odd i know but I've looked high and low.

I was thinking latency as well. The strange thing is that when I adjust the preferences in Vegas they dont do anything. And stranger still it works sometimes and sometimes it doesnt. Yesterday and today everything has been ok and everything is in sync. Recording the same songs on same projects with same settings.

Im thinking this is definately something to do with the Edirol, I might just get rid of it and buy another outboard for myself.
