Vegas 9.0 installed on XP; upgrading to Win 7

Hi,

I have Vegas 9.0 and DVD Architect 5.0b installed on an XP system. I'm considering upgrading my desktop to Win 7.

Can I download for free a Win-7 compatible version of Vegas 9.0/DVD Architect 5.0b or do I have to pay to get a special Win-7 version of Vegas/DVDA?

(I have the original download link, but that link doesn't mention any OS-based dependencies...it just has different builds for 32 or 64-bit versions of Windows)

Also, would my existing Vegas/DVD Architect projects work as-is in Win7?

Thanks.

Some points to think about before jumping in:

What CPU type do you currently have - is it 32bit or 64bit?
That will determine what Windows7 type you can install.

If your CPU is 32 bit, then you have no option but to install 32bit version of Windows7 and the 32bit version of Vegas 9 and DVDA.

If you have a 64 bit CPU, its better, install Windows7 64 bit and choose either Vegas 9 32 bit OR vegas9 64 bit - the 64 bit version being the better choice.
However if you have older plugins that are only 32bit (and you must use them), these will not work in 64 bit Vegas. In that case, choose 32 bit Vegas9. -> or consider upgrading your plugins to 64 bit.
And you can have both types of Vegas 9 (32/64) installed at the same time as a work around for the 32 bit plugins.

The downloads are free from here:

And yes Vegas 9 works with WIndows 7 just great. And your projects will load fine.
