Nope. You won't hear a peep until the Admin posts a sticky in that regard.

Be patient.

We are being patient, but still ....... ?!?!?!? :-)

SCS was slammed by some for v.9 being "rushed."

Hopefully, we can exercise some patience with the thought: "The longer they take, the better it will be when it is released."

Just something to think about (while we're waiting). ;o)

When is a program rushed? when is it finished?

Mishaps and errors in software is absolutely no shame. They just happen.
See Microsoft, who for years have updated their software one or more times a month. That scheme is simply so great.

As a user it is easy to forgive a mishap - and then enjoy the program when the mishaps are corrected shortly after they are found - than it is when all you hear is:

Einar, I am in total agreement with you!

Personally I hope they take their time, even another couple of months, and iron out all the bugs... I can still use V8 til the new one gets released.

Why is it people are so understanding when a company rolls out software that was neither tested adequately or ready for market? Companies roll out product early for one thing in mind, and that is to knock out a competitors soon to be released version. It cracks me up that people expect all sorts of problems and make excuses for the company for doing it. Yes, little obscure problems may arise given the thousands of different configurations of pc's that contain different sound cards, video cards, processor speed, etc. Howevcer, when a company rolls out a product and it crashes everytime you try to render a mpeg two pass... please, give me a break people. Ask for your 184 back if you really want to send a message to the company and tell them you arent paying to be a beta tester. Thats what I did and Sony agreed. They returned my $184 and offered me 20% any future product. I'll wait to 9b

Mr. Newbie,

I'm getting real work done with Vegas v9 while patiently waiting for 9.0a. I haven't found any problem so serious that would cause me to ask for my $184 back. It hasn't crashed on me yet.
VegasVideo wrote on 7/6/2009, 8:48 PM
With 300 posts within the last 3 months, I'm surprised you actually found time to fit work in.. good grief.
blink3times wrote on 7/6/2009, 9:50 PM
I quite agree with John... And I've racked up quite a few more posts too.

I've run into some minor problems with V9... nothing I didn't expect for a new version. But overall it has worked well, it has done what I've asked and there have been no showstoppers.

If you're having issues then it might be a good idea to update your system specs so that we can be of some kind of assistance. For all anybody knows, you're trying to run Vegas with a little mouse on a wheel connected to a generator.

I've been active here since June 26, 2002, which is 2537 days ago and have posted just 3,685 messages here on the forum. This is a slacker average of 1.45 messages per day.

Blink joined the forum January 11, 2007, which was just 907 days ago. In that relatively short amount of time, he has posted 3,689 messages, for an average of 4.06 per day. Of course, at least three of these per day were either starting or participating in flame wars. Do these even count? LOL!

I think Grazie actually won some sort of prize at NAB a few years ago for his number of posts. He's been here since March 8, 2002 and has posted 12,781 messages! That's 4.8 messages per day for over 7 years. (I think maybe half of those were asking if anyone wanted to chat via Skype.) LOL!

My Vegas 9 has not crashed once, has not froze or anything I must have gotten the good one Ha and I do not post very often perhaps that is the secret

John - I hear you . . I hear you . . . You make me sound a rather sad man: "(I think maybe half of those were asking if anyone wanted to chat via Skype.) " . . .

Anyway, and moving on . . . I DO have issues with VP9. I have spent time logging these with SCS. I have had further communications with them and have been praised for both my determination and thoroughness with my analytical approach.

All of my work is totally bound up with Vegas. And as a result understanding its workings and possible "other" ways of getting-on, I have come here. To this end, I depend greatly on the support of John Cline, John Rofrano, BOB!, DSE and many many others.

I came to Video Production and editing, late in life, and have truly never ever regretted a single day when things go swimmingly along. But when they don't - then watch out!

Even yesterday, Bob ( yes John, on SKYPE) spent much time with me attempting to get my head around framerates (evidenced by my other thread . . . ).

Presently I have another "issue" I want to post. It's an intricate lil devil, but has me mentally poleaxed.

Oh and BTW, I was presented a jacket in my absence at NAB. However, due to the failings of something within the postal system, I never received it. Oh yeah, and BOB did get his! ( Let it go Grazie . . . Let it go . . )

Love all of yah!

Vegas,as far as I can tell, is continually evolving. I like that. What comes with this is the need for making advances and incremental changes that keep the project alive. And what THAT means is that there will be hiccups along the way.

I am really glad to be part of this process. I like the "new". And I like being part of seeing something develop like this.

SCS? Roll-out when you are ready. I still have Vegas5, 7 and 8 loaded.

grazie, what happened to 6?

Grazie wrote on 7/6/2009, 11:39 PM
Like the Ashes: Got thumped out of the Ground! - No, not really, When I upgraded my PC I installed what I then wanted/needed. V6 fell to one side.

How come you didn't ask about V4 or even V3? Prior to that it was VideoFactory, which I still do have loaded on my Dell SchaLap-top

What I really thought was: Why do we not receive a regular (i.e. monthly?) update with an improvement of the obvious mishaps - like that v9 will not open its own .veg's first time but often has to be closed and started a second time?

In the good old days, as an software company owner, I had a scheme of regular updates to keep my customers happy by showing them a progress -instead of just silence.

Of course also regular updates can contain mishaps - we have all noticed Microsoft hurry with a fast minor update a few days after the major regular update. But - does this not show the customers that their software company care very much?

This forum and the technical support input are good ways of identifying the issues that should be dealt with in the next regular update :-)

By the way, what does it take to get an S C V U behind your name? Are you guys the beta testers?

Jay Gladwell wrote on 7/7/2009, 3:56 AM

Craig, SCVU and SCVE means "Sony Certitifed Vegas User" and "Editor," respectively.

You can learn more about it here.

ritsmer wrote on 7/7/2009, 4:34 AM
Right - and No: we are not the beta testers - just ordinary users who have done the study and passed the exam.

I did it because I have used Vegas since before it was called Vegas - and after some years wanted to be sure, that I did know most of its possibilities.
The Kid wrote on 7/7/2009, 5:45 AM
Hey I still have my Video factory program

Now in all these years Sony Vegas and this forum have been going

Not one person has asked the most important question

Can you drink beer and still video edit at the same time?
