VEGAS & AfterEffects?

I'm sure a lot of people here use Vegas(or any NLE) & After Effects. What I would like to know is - What are your steps for doing so? Do you do rough edits, render to AVI in Vegas, import into After Effects, then import back to Vegas to compile your clips and effects together?

Can Vegas import directly to After Effects and vice versa?
(such as FinalCutPro, Avid Xpress, & Premiere can with 'Automatic Duck' installed)

Is there any direct BORIS product interaction?

Basically I'm looking to see how others are simplifying or making the interaction go smoother. Plus I'm new to the Editing world so I don't know all the correct methods yet.

Thanks in advance,
Lamont

Lamont,

I don't use AE or Boris for that matter, but will risk butting in based on reading from past posts...There is no direct integration as yet between AE or Boris (though I believe Boris plans to launch a plugin for Vegas within the next few months...(I think there is a past post in here direct from Boris people stating the project and approx dealine)

Basically I believe the workflow as present is as you mention: render avi in Vegas, import into AE, edit or whatever, render and import back into Vegas.

Hope other more direct users can be more precise...in the meantime, at least my response will put you back up into the top of the forum listing posts!

Regards,

Paul.

I do this often - and here is how I handle things.

I do my basic edit in Vegas - when I'm happy with it I save to a new folder and trim media.

Then I open after Effects - load all the avi file clips and drag to the comp icon and select multiple to auto-create comps for each clip. i then setup my effects on each clip as desired - render as uncompressed - use batch converter to convert to NTSC (to avoid using the microsoft codec out of after effects) - then overwrite all the clip files into the vegas project folder. Then you can load it up to add titles or anything else you want to your now effected - clips. I archive & keep the original edit file & media seperate from the trimmed media Vegas folder.

Hope this helps some.
