Mario, I have to give credit where credit is due. I didn't come up with the name "Midi Forge." I believe Peter actually did, I just brought the name to a new level. I was reading one of Peter's posts where a user was asking about doing certain kinds of precise midi editing in Acid and Peter using the analogy of how Sound Forge is used in Acid, said "so what you're really looking for is a Midi Forge type of editor." I liked the sounds of it, and ran with the ball for my dedicated midi sequencer suggestion. Not sure if there will ever be a Midi Forge, but it was nice to see Peter at least mention the name to give hope as if maybe it was already in the works huh?

I did come up with the suggested name for Vegas of "Kamelian" from another post, which was actually referring to this post.

From another thread:
Clipman, you got the name all wrong. An earlier thread was discussing how "Vegas" got it's name. Well for this new word processor enhanced version of Vegas, Sony has decided to release the original official intended name to elliminate all confusion as to what direction the Vegas development is really headed. That name is "Kamelian v1.0". It's the app that changes it color depending on the new marketing strategy environment it latches onto. So as you can see the Microsoft office features should be no surprise to anyone, as Sony saw an opportunity in this market sector. Don't worry current video users, Kamelian will keep developing new Video features with every new release, although that development cycle may be split up over long periods of time, as to guarantee to keep you guessing. In future versions Sony has promised to keep with the same development strategy as it always has, so not to confuse the current user base, in that eventually they will make an official statement that Kamelian is not an NLE, but a word processor with exceptional video editing features. Some video users may be discouraged once Kamelian reaches this development cycle, but Sony has everything worked out, where they'll refer them to the Vegas "Audio" forum, where there is an entire support group who have learned to cope with this very same situation.

Kamelian 1.0 coming soon.........

I wish they would have named Vegas "Video Forge". That way when I first started using "Vegas Pro 1.0". I would have known today that it was going to be a video editing program, rather than finding out 6 years and 4 development cycles later that it wouldn't be the multitrack DAW, we where all led to believe it was going to be in the beginning.

Isn't a "Final Cut Pro" a Rabbi who does circumcisions?

Yes, it could be said that the dual (or should that be duel) nature of Vegas’s personality is creating a small amount of disquiet amongst those in the audio crowd at the moment.

Don’t know about you redmondo old boy. But I’ve struck upon the notion that it would be jolly sensible of Sony if they stopped playing silly buggers and put their video stuff into one application and their music stuff into the other...

Sounds like a jolly smashing idea ay wot? Tally ho!
