Vegas and DVDA audio device selection

I notice in Vegas Pro 8 I can set my audio device, but as far as I can tell, I cannot in DVDA 4.5. When I selected my preferred audio device in Vegas, I can hear the audio as I compose my project. However, having rendered the .avi and .ac3 files in Vegas, when I use those files to compose the DVD, I can hear no audio when I preview in DVDA 4.5. Apparently, DVDA has chosen my audio device poorly. Can I force DVDA 4.5 to preview to my preferred audio device?

Thanks

How many audio devices do you have?
DVDA doesnt utiilise any specific hardware, as its purely software driven as its only designed for playback or encoding, both of which are again drien by softwae.
The difference to the audo in DVDA and Vegas are like comparing a volkswagon to a semi trailer.. they cant be compared and the fact tah DVDA does utilise any hardware for Audio mixing is why it doesnt matter waht HW u have.
In vegas however, for an accurate mix, the Soundcard plays a HUGE part, mainly for audio channel seperation, but thats about it..
As an example, you can run a reverb from a VST or DX plugin, bt you cannot route that bus or audio track out to your soundcards built in hardware effects. As an example, soundblaster units have a pretty kick ass processor when it comes to audio utilising the Emu hardware, nin many Audio production apps, you can route your channels to the cards effect send, or route the effect into the sequencer...
Vegas doesnt give you this option however.. but if it did, i am sure many mroe people would be jumping ship to Vegas simply to utilise its powerful mixing tools with their hardware.. as it stands, you cannot use hardware with Vegas aside from using it to split you rsurround channels.

Also note that DVDA might accept a 5.1 AC3 file, however it WILL NOT preview it.. in turn it will create a stereo mixdown of said file for previewing purposes ONLY.
DVDA 2 and 3 had some terible peak building quirks and it would randomly shoot the visible waveform though the roof. this was an old issue we faced with Softwencode as well which was the first suround encode from Sonic Foundry.
The issue remained as i hung onto that beautiful lil thing, but as soon as i got rid of it, my problems cleared up..
Waste of money as i paid about 500 bux for teh app, but thats technology for you..

In any case, Your output should be identical to what you hear when creating your mix save for compression algorythms within teh DD encode.
The only time it would affect your projec ti fDVD wants to rerender your ac3, which it shouldnt.
