Vegas and m2v

OK guys I bet the answer is simple but I'm brainlocked. I've got an m2v file that I want to drop into vegas to add a sound track but vegas refuses to play the file. The file plays fine in Media player and in DVDA. The file was encoded in FCP and WMP seems to be using the MainConcept2 codec to play the file.
Should i be able to do this or am I asking too much?

Name the ending to .mpeg or .mpg and it should work fine in Vegas.

use tmpgenc and multiplex the m2v file to a program file with no audio

it will not work if it is a elementary stream .. vegas needs program streams .. see my other post

So the answer was elementary Dr. Watson. Thanks for the help guys. I wondered if it was something to do with there being no audio file. I'll give it a try with tmpgenc and post the result.

Thnx

only reason i suggest tmpgenc - is that it's "mpeg tool kit" multiplexer does not require a a audio stream ..

and you can use the free version to do this ...

if you have another app which does multiplexing - just multiplex any audio of any length into it as temporary measure ..

Yes. I've done this with TMPGEnc. WIthout audio. It works great and easy.
