Vegas and the Model Movie - Anyone else ?

For the last 5 days or so traffic has been nearly triple it's usual load, and it's been keeping up just about constantly throughout the day instead of a few heavy spurts now and then.

We're investigating DSL but the prospects aren't great in our area yet. The other choice is to move to the next grade up of RoadRunner service which will offer about 5 times the outgoing bandwidth, but at nearly 4 times the price. Ouch.

Hey, i did get a quote on an OC-48 line. Actually i'm surprised the salesperson even bothered to write it up. It came out to $48,000 for the installation and $25,000/month for the bandwidth. Super ouch! I doubt we'll be installing that anytime soon.

It's obvious this guy has lots of time on his hands. Not only that, he's desparate for every dollar he can get. You're right, Kelly. Most real salesmen wouldn't have wasted their time on such a puny quote. If this guy doesn't get serious and expand his goals, he and his family are going to starve to death!

>>so I sent a small donation to Kelly (since it cost money to setup a server and a fast connection).

If the rest of us would do likewise, there may be a chance Kelly can affort additional bandwidth.

Any takers?<<

Hear, hear, everyone here can afford at least $10 for such a great cause right?

I used to host a few things on my own servers in my house for a while but I found the lack of bandwidth to be a bit limiting so I eventually got my own dedicated server in a data center.

For $200 per month I have a dedicated server with 100Mbits bandwidth and 1000GB traffic per month.

Works great.

A much better approach. Today unless your primary business involves offering ISP services rarely makes sense to have your own connection to the Internet anymore.

Fairly typical prices range between $22-30 a month for 1,000 to 1,500 MB storage and 80-100 GB transfer with scaling up also dirt cheap for a non dedicated server and unless you're doing tons of traffic and thousands of web pages having a dedicated server isn't necessary.

I'm in for a donation in the next while. Lord know's I owe it to him. His site has been very helpful to me to say the least.

Your visitation has probably increased because of Stonefield's videos ;-)

However, your banner advertisers are getting nice exposure.

The origional question was "is anyone else doing something like this?"
Mine isn't exactly Disney-approved. If the above samples are considered porn by definition then I guess nude women dancing while wearing only bodypaint would be like only 1 step away from hardcore. For the curious, the standard "over 18, contains nudity" applies. No sex here, very short sample.

In the works. Shooting and editing is the easy part, and the girls love doing it. Trying to line them up however is like herding cats.

"I'll be eventually phasing out the non-original music and feature more original works."

I don't think you quite get it... (and I echo all that Muttley has already said)...

I am a songwriter/composer/musician and have been working hard at it for 47 years... I hold several copyrights and each lyric/composition/performance represents a chunk of MY life/heart/soul and much labor... they are my children... I gave birth to them.

Try this: run "The Kiss" WITHOUT music... it looses a lot... the timing of your cuts become utterly meaningless. The music may well represent half of the impact.

Now imagine that you stumble on a web site where the owner is a musician/composer presenting his original music... he thinks his music is more effective as a track to a video... you click on his links and find YOUR videos... YOUR expertise... YOUR years of hard work... YOUR imagination... and not only have you not been asked permission but YOUR NAME hasn't even been credited ! I can assure you that no matter what you may think at this moment that IT HURTS !

Please do the author(s) a small favor and at least credit their contribution... it will take away the sting if not the lawsuit.

Having gotten that out of the way I'ld like to say that after watching three of your videos I am very impressed. I am still a video neophyte but I liked "Silence" the best for it's cut timing and judicial use of FX... especially the simulated(?) rain.
