Vegas and XP

I am trying to install vegas 2.0d and I get a message box saying that vegas needs directx 8 to finish installing. I have directx 8.1 and other DX programs work fine (including sound forge). Does anyone know a work around??

I had it working with xp before but the install of xp was over top of ME, but this time xp was a fresh install and that is the difference?
there is no other way to get 2.0d to work?

Not sure why you'd want to get version d to work when version h is the latest downloadable update. Download the h version, and you'll probably find that it will work just fine.
