Vegas and Yamaha DS2416 DSP Factory

Peter,

I finally got things reorganized in my studio and got Vegas
installed yesterday - Looks great! I can hardly wait for
the released version. Most of the features I was
anticipating being missing are already in and beautifully
implemented. Great Job!

I am attempting to run the Vegas beta under Windows NT 4.0
with Service Pack 3 and the Direct Media 6.0 package using
the brand new NT drivers for the Yamaha DSP Factory. Both
Vegas and Sound Forge go through the motions of playback
but no sound is present on the selected output(s) of the
DS2416.

Do you have any experience with these new drivers or am I
pushing the envelope here expecting this to work?

Thanks for making this package available to a critical
public at such an early stage!

I am messing with the new DSP NT drivers as I write this. I will let you know
what I discover.

No sound? Forge also? Have you tried LUI or one of the other "console" apps for
the DSPF to route/control the card?

Thanks,
Peter

Peter,

I wasn't sure if LUI would work under NT so I hadn't tried it yet. I'll let
you know tonight what happens. ds2416ck (the checkout applet provided by
Yamaha) reports "OK" and generates 1K tones but that's the only sound I've been
able to get so far under NT (works fine under Win95B).

I noticed late last night that the default error sound was beeping the PC
speaker which indicates to me something is missing from the NT driver chain. I
suspect I may have botched something on the install so I'm going to give the
whole setup another go. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the input!

Brian

P.S. Does the PC ID string change if I reformat the Hard drive?

I think that reformating the harddrive will change the PC ID we use.

Peter,

I meticulously re-installed NT 4.0 last night along with service pack 3 and the
new DS2416 drivers. Still no sound. I was curious what kind of behavior
you're observing. If you are getting sound, I guess I need to contact Yamaha.

Thanks!
