Perhaps one of the many forum members who are trying the beta build 243 could test your problem on that to see if it still exists.

I think nobody is testing it, as I tested it on 248 and it is still there.

I think this is a normal behavior. Software cannot determine whether they are the same files merely by their file names, so it shouldn't overwrite them.

For another example, in a project file, there might be two test.mp4 files. They belong to different folders and have different contents, but they have the same name. Archive Export will place them in the same folder. It can't tell if two files are the same, so it renames them.

I suggest you export to a new empty folder and then delete the old folder.

@iEmby I have difficulty following your video with the mouse pointer flicking all over the screen. But at the end it appears you save Vegas 6 and get asked if you want to replace it to which you reply yes. Then in the folder you show us there is just the one Vegas 6. So sorry but I don't see a problem. The file is replaced.

I kinda get it why this is an issue but at the same time, during archival process you don't want to accidentally overwrite existing file till that archived project is future proof and can be open up again properly without any issue.

I knew VEGAS POST (VE/VI) no longer in the picture, but I think I've made a post before that VEGAS Pro is not smart enuf to archive what's inside VE/VI as well. This same applied to other software like Davinci and Premiere.

it is renaming every existing file with adding counter with it.

which is not ok for most of cases.

like if i add some more files in project

Instead of Project Archive Export you can alternatively use the Save As with Copy media with project option enabled. Only newly added media will be added to the archive folder with a new save.

yes sir it is replacing only project file but doubling already exist media.

agreed with ur overwrite issue in some cases.

but at least it should ask user about overwrite existing files or just doubling / renaming them.
