- Excuse the cross-postings -
Vegas was featured at the Editor's Lounge this past Friday. Tim Duncan was the presenter.
Here is a post from the Avid-L:
<< We had an in depth demo of Sony's Vegas last Friday night. The crowd was blown away by it's speed. I kept asking how they were pulling this off and the demo artist really couldn't explain. In a three hour demo it never crashed.
This software leaves FCP and Avid in the dust for speed. Granted, it is only DV resolution at this point, but for DV users, this program screams.
You can have multiple timelines running at the same time.
Audio waveforms are not only instant (no waiting for them to draw) but they can also be manipulated while the audio is playing.
You can edit further down a timeline while the timeline is playing.
It never crashed.
RT waveforms that update as the video plays and while you color correct.
RT multicam playback using a script that bundles the shots together.
RT effects building while the video is playing a la Motion.
Did I mention it never crashed?
I could go on but you get the point. All this was on a dual AMD PC. Not even the most current version. No extra cards, $699. for the software.
Oliver told me to look at this last year and I never did, now I see what he was talking about.
What I want to know is, where is the trick here? This is so far ahead of the other guys that I have to be missing something. Anyone here have any clues? >>
End of Avid-L post.
