Vegas can import OMF today.

I have just been on the phone to the people at Fairlight in Sydney to ask them if they would consider making their program "AV Transfer" Vegas compatible (It imports, translates, exports OMF files).

They said "It already is.. there is a Vegas export option." I had to pick myself up off the floor. It is audio only, video may come.

There is a demo available:

Sweet. First HD capabilities, now OMF. Soon robust EDL and AE plugin translation. Limitations keep falling like flies...

What next -- V4 will do your editing for you? :)

I've been playing with the demo but I can't find any sign of any Vegas features.

It seems to convert between OMF and AES31, etc, nicely, but I can't see any way to get it to import or export text EDLs, either the Vegas type or the traditional CMX/Sony type.

Perhaps I'm not looking in the right place. Whereabouts are the Vegas features to be found?

Oops, ignore that - I was looking at an old version of the demo.

Now I've got the current version of the demo I can see that it does indeed import and export in Vegas text EDL format.
