what is a poster frame?
Jessariah67 wrote on 9/21/2003, 1:00 PM
If we were lucky, a "Poster Frame" would be 1/30th of a scond of Zippy...

A thumbnail picture pulled from the clip.

Zippy,

Instead of framing my posters, I just put them up with thumb tacks.

You find the "Tacky Plugin" comes in handy under those circumstances...

I'M GETTING TIRED HERE PEOPLE!!!

The feeling is mutual, you ill mannered person.

You obviously were at the back of the queue when they handed out humility and manners.

Please don't broadcast your ignorance, just ask if something is possible - in this case it is, by enabling Thumbnail view.

SO WHY CAN'T I DO IT!!

Oh, I don't know... Perhaps it's because you are an idiot of unparalleled dimension.

I want to SET the frame to whatever frame I want Peter! Not the one Vegas chooses for me. So No, Thumbnail view does NOT WORK!!!
PeterWright wrote on 9/21/2003, 10:07 PM
OK, well at least you've clarified what you're after.

I'm not sure whether any other NLEs do this - it's more the sort of function done for end users, as for example in DVDA thumbnails.

Really it's a question of being able to recognise which clip is which, and you have the clip name and the first frame to help here.
If this doesn't tell you, there's Edit details, which has an "Active Take name" field, then there's Region names in Explorer, and of course you can always open in Trimmer to see what's there.

Okay, gang, our friend Z. Galoo has a point. It would be a useful feature to be able to set the identifying thumbnail for a particular clip in the bin to a particular frame. I don't use the bin, so it's nothing to me, but I can certainly see the merit.

Mr. Galoo: Point taken. You might want to think about how you express yourself, because your current method really could use a bit of polishing.

For example:

Say I can't figure out how to move a veg file into another project. Here are two possible posts:

Post #1: WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP IS VEGAS?! I WORK FOR HOURS ON A PROJECT, AND NOW I HAVE TO KEEP THE SCREEN ON MY COMPUTER ALL THE TIME BECAUSE I CANNOT PUT IT AWAY OR I LOSE MY WORK! IT PUTS IT AWAY IF I OPEN ANOTHER! GET REAL!

--or--

Post #2: Can anyone tell me how to copy a project into another project?

Which post do you think would identify the sender as a thoughtful person? Which post do you think would get thoughtful replies?

Sure, it would be a nice "extra" bit of icing on the cake. And of course we like icing.

This probably should be added to the next major rev of vegas. You'd set the frame from within the trimmer window (giving people more reasons to use the trimmer).

I don't think this is stopping anyone from getting work done-except Zippy, that is.

In fact, I'd like to be able to put up to THREE thumbnails per Clip: start, middle and end of clip so I'm not confused anymore by different takes of a same clip... So there'd be a button: Standard thumbnail view, Selected thumbnail view and Full Clip thumbnail view...

Zippy, here's how you post a question on forums. The response is a model response too!

Maybe you should run off to alt.netiquette.dunce and practice for a while.
