Vegas can't open codec!

I have a bunch of files I am trying to import to Vegas that are supposed to be h.264 file but it always says "an error occurred when opening a codec.

That appears to h.264 video in an AVI wrapper, which is somewhat non-standard. It's not surprising that Vegas won't open the files. You can try installing the VFW (Video for Windows) h.264 codec linked below, it will very likely do the trick.

That indeed should do the trick, and you'll always find the latest 32- and 64-bit versions on Sourceforge.

Believe it or not, that was the first thing I tried and it didn't work. I now know why - I accidentally selected the 32 bit version - you need the 64 bit version for Vegas - it is working now.
