Vegas Capture Issue in Version 23 build 278

Of course, I have other means to record the screen but I would like to get Vegas Capture working. I have a feeling it is probably some kind of setting or something I am missing.

I have an Intel Ultra 7 265K on Windows 11 with 32 GB RAM. It does have the built in video and a dedicated NVIDIA RTX 5070 card. I suspect it may have something to do with having dual graphics but everything else in Vegas seems to work fine.

After I start Vegas Capture and select "+Add Capture Source", If I choose "screen" or "window", I will see the options and, in those options, I can see the current picture and even see the mouse moving around in the "preview". But, as soon as I select any of those sources, on the bottom of that source window, it says, "Not Available" and the "Preview" is a blank black screen. If I click record anyway, to see what happens, it then starts recording (the time is counting) but it is impossible to stop the recording because the "stop" button is unresponsive. The only option is to close the Vegas Capture app with the "X" and no recording is saved.

I am using a 4K display and the project is 1080 but I tried changing the project settings and it didn't seem to help.

I am really hoping to find out this is either a setting that I am missing or, if it is another issue, it would be nice to know if the developer is aware of it.

There are other posts about this. Do a search. For some it works, others, like me, it doesn't.

Thanks for the reply. I did see many other posts about it. I was hoping it was just a setting or option on my end but after some troubleshooting and research I also believe it may have something to do with the configuration of my PC but is not easily fixed or involves something I am not willing to do (such as using a different video card or using the Intel built in graphics, etc.)

So, for now, I gave up on it.....

It is really disappointing though because the new "Capture" is one of the touted "New Features in Version 23!" And, it isn't even really new, it is just a new interface and it didn't ever seem to work reliably in the past so it is like the "new" feature is that is now works, but it doesn't, at least not for many.

I have used OBS before but now find that the NVIDIA overlay does a really nice job. I also thought the NVIDIA overlay could be interfering with the VEGAS capture and tried turning off the overlay but that didn't help. Nothing I tried could get the VEGAS Capture working.

Chances are that other apps are blocking the capture devices. Even web browsers do this.

@VEGASFlorian is there a way to know?

Is there any more information available? What browsers? Is there a setting to fix it? Surely, if the developers have found a culprit, i.e. setting X in application Y causes a conflict, then they would let users know.
