Vegas does not like Vdub capture

To those that may use virtual dub to capture video: what settings do you use to be able to edit the footage in Vegas?
I use huffyuv codec for capture but when I attempt to open the file in vegas, it is fubared. The frames become this distorted mess of reds or blues. Opening the same file in vdub or ati or wmp etc. show the video as it was captured. What gives?
The only way I have been able to get around this is to use tmpgenc to convert the footage to uncompressed then I can open and edit in Vegas. As you can tell, this defeats the purpose of trying to save disk space and it takes a buttload of time to convert.
What do you do and how can I replicate that? BTW, I am using an AIW 9600 card for capture. If I capture IN Vegas, everything is fine, but, I do like the filters for Vdub and avisynth.
I'd like to keep using vdub for capture but edit in Vegas. Any suggestions to fix this dilema? I'm thinking it's the type of AVI that vdub outputs but I am not sure and I certainly don't know how to change it. I have tried the panasonic dv codec (freebie!) but alas, no luck on getting vdub to see it.
Any suggestions from those who have come before...?

If I am not mistaken, isnt Vdub only type 1 avi where as Vegas likes Type 2 avi? I could be wrong but its just a thought.

When using Huffy with Vegas, you must check the 'always suggest RGB format for output' box in the Huffy configuration box. Vegas works in RGB space.

MDVid is correct. I ran into exactly the same thing. I posted in this thread:

Hufyuv problems

and Sony responded with similar advice. It cures the problem.
