Vegas dropping frames

I am recording video and audio of gameplay using Hauppauge Capture Software. Occasionally I record a video which plays back in Hauppauge editing window fine, plays back fine when exported into an MP4, but when loaded in Vegas play back in slow motion. Not only does it play in slow motion, but Vegas then skips some frames every few seconds to keep the video to where it should be if it wasn't in slow motion.

If I export the footage to MP4 in two halves then the second half will work fine but the first half will be exactly the same. Honestly I'm at a bit of a loss with the whole thing. I know it's very specific but does anyone have any suggestions that may help?

Quick check to try ... highlight a few seconds as a selection and press Shift-B. You should see a pre-render being built. (If not, go into Preferences / Video, and set up some RAM prerendering space, maybe 1/4 of your total RAM or so.) Now try previewing that section. Does it play at full speed?

Hello,

I gave it a try but it still plays it in slow motion and drops the frames.

Thanks though

Hauppauge recordings are transport streams. You didn't post your system spece, or project properties, both important.

Quick answer: you may need an intermediate or proxy render to see smooth preview on your system.
