Vegas dropping trimmer meta data (bug report?)

tim-neighbors wrote on 10/26/2024, 8:14 PM

I'm using VP22 build 122 and I rely heavily on trimmer regions in my workflow, so to me this is a serious issue. after creating regions and markers in a video clip in the trimmer, when I open up a different clip in the trimmer, then reopen the previous clip in the trimmer again, all of my markers and regions are gone. I have checked the preference to 'automatically save markers/regions with media file' but I'm not even closing the program -just simply switching between files in the trimmer -and I'm losing all of my clip logging. I have added the trimmer button to manually save trimmer markers/regions and it is greyed out, not allowing me to save them that way either. I've tried moving my temp folder to a different drive and the problem persists. Any ideas? Must be just me cause this would be a pretty major issue for a lot of people I would imagine.

In case the attached video doesn't work, here is a link to the video on Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DONkB-h4NxcPTj2vQbakW_Mspn97YJ1W/view?usp=sharing

Are you "Saving" them???

tim-neighbors wrote on 10/27/2024, 10:41 AM

Yes. The "save markers/regions" button is greyed out so I can't save them. I also have "automatically save trimmer marker/regions with media file" enabled in preferences.

Is anyone else able to reproduce this issue? It's very difficult and inefficient for me to work without the use of this meta data.

For me, it works with some files but does not work with other files. For example, my old DV-AVI files it works fine. My MP4 files rendered from VEGAS do not have that option available.

I never used that but just checked in VP19 , work on AVI's MTS's MOV's and MP4's.

*Not on MKV's

@FayFen, my "not work" was an MP4 so it's not ALL MP4s...

here is the footage I'm using that Vegas is not storing meta data for. This is footage from a Sony A7siii, which btw could be the most common camera among solo videographers out there.

I googled for a7siii files and found

VP19 treats them well in the trimer

Here is one of the video clips I was using, where meta data was dropping:
