firstly, i would like to ask if there is website or resource that i can access to learn more advanced techniques that can be used in vegas to create video effects. at present, i have learnt a lot of the techniques myself just by playing around with the basic transitions and effects etc. but i have no idea how to create more advanced effects or transitions. so any help here would be appreciated. for example, and effect like where there is a scene and it eventually transitions to a point of light like a tv suddenly being turned off because of lack of power. i am anxious to learn more about this great program. please please please point me in the right direction. thanks

Welcome aboard--there are many spots (no pun intended) on the Net to get info on Vegas---This happens to be among the best---Go to this site---http://www.sundancemediagroup.com/help/kb/kb_login.asp?s=1&url=kb_files.asp because there are a bunch of tutorials, veg files etc that will help you along.

Are you referring to a single white flash at the end of the video ?

Then, you use the Flash transition (hard flash).Simply drag this transition to the end of the clip. You will need to minimise the length of the transition to achieve the effect.

A good "list of lists" for Vegas can be found here:

You could try a short Iris transition to white, or better still, keyframe the cookie cutter, then you can have blurred edges and hang on to the little white spot as long as you want.

Here's a veg of a TV being turned off. It uses the colour gradient. It's PAL.

turnoff (Rightclick and save as...)
