Hello all. I'm in a serious predicament.
In 2023, I was using Vegas Effects 20 many, many times on my Dell Inspiron laptop, which had 16GB of Ram and an i7 processor. I used Windows 10 on it, and I was able to render an entire 40 min EP with a hefty amount of effects with 0 crashes. [See for reference]
I've switched laptops, now using Windows 11 on an HP Envy, 16GB Ram with an AMD Razen 5 graphics card it came with. Vegas Effects is borderline usable. I'll load up one, two, or even 3 effects, and without warning it will not respond, which it rarely ever recovers from. I even tried pulling up one effect, and before it even applied, it simply crashed and I'm seriously grieved by this. My latest video, , took an INSANE amount of preparatory renders! If you look at the video, just for a little over 2 mins, I had to separately render the background, separately render two boxes at a time, and I couldn't use chromatic aberration period. Every step of the way, Effects 20 crashed and I had to keep segmenting what I would render. This same video was previously done in early 2024 all in one project, plus chromatic aberration. No chopping things up into so many separate renders. I had to compile everything in Vegas Pro 20 just so I could get the video out. I had to apply an alternate effect within Pro 20, create a half-hearted second portion of the video, and separately render the 7 second intro.
BTW, I still have my old laptop, but it's in bad condition, although I believe the graphics card is still good.
What should I do to return my video editing process to a crash free state, or a near crash free state? Very desperate at the moment about it. Thank you.
