VEGAS Effects crashing constantly

Cawley wrote on 3/23/2021, 4:42 PM

I am experiencing an issue where VEGAS Effects is constantly crashing with no error report and no locking up of the program. I have been able to replicate the issue by right-clicking on a layer and pressing 'Make Composite Shot'. (The layer in question is of the bonfire effect)

After pressing 'OK', the blue wheel on my cursor spins for a few seconds and the program will then close. There is no 'Not Responding' message or error report; the program simply closes.

This crash has also been caused by other actions, but the program won't stay open long enough for me to test other possible causes. Although I can replicate the issue, it appears to be somewhat random. I have uninstalled/reinstalled several times and also uninstalled my New Blue & HitFilm plugins but the issue remains.

Specs/Version #

OS - Windows 10 Build 19041

CPU - Ryzen 5 3600

GPU - AMD rx590

Vegas Effects Version #: 2.2.10629.53694

Thank you in advance!

I had this issue as well. Seems when a layer or layers are too complicated, it crashes... and the workaround will be make a manual compositing, and then copy paste the layer or effects manually.

Hope helps.

I created a composite layer manually but when I clicked on the composite featuring the bonfire the program crashed. However, I started a new project and have had no issues so far. So this does tell me that the bonfire layer in my original project must have been too complicated like you said.

Hopefully we will see an update soon that fixes some of these bugs, thank you for your help with this!
