Vegas files won't save in Windows 10

I've just bought a new studio computer with Win 10, along with Vegas 13 to replace my XP set up.

Everything was fine until I tried to save my project - an error message appeared informing me that my project 'couldn't be saved'.

At this point, I noticed that the project veg file disappeared, leaving a bak file and a temp file.

When I contacted support I was instructed to create an administrator account and install/register the program from there.

This I did, but I still have the same issue. I don't know what the point is of the administrator account; especially after I've reinstalled all my programs on my name account. Acid and Sound Forge work ok, I've not got onto CD/DVD Architect yet.

Does anyone else have experience of this?

Are you logging into Windows 10 with a Microsoft Account or Local Account ?
I have found that using a Microsoft Account causes less problems than a Local Account, even though there should be no difference.

Did you start Vegas Pro as the administrator ?
Right-click Vegas Pro program shortcut and select Run As Administrator
This will make sure that you have full read/write ability, because the problem you are describing sounds like a Windows permissions problem. Some virus protectors are also too aggressive and cause havoc. Try temporarily turning off your virus protection and then do a save in Vegas.

There is another ridiculous setting in Windows 10 that can block a lot of normal functions. Press Windows Start and select Settings (cog). Go to Privacy/General. Turn OFF Smart Screen Filter.

Does your computer have 1 or 2 drives in it ?
If it has 1 x C-drive and a 2nd D-drive, did you re-address the Documents folder to D-Drive in master user folder ? If your Vegas Pro Projects Folder does not have correct permissions, this could cause problem.

Regards
Derek

Gosh, so much to try! Thanks very much, I shall report back when I've had a go...

I'm now logging in with a Microsoft account. I've selected 'run as administrator'. I disabled virus protection. Smart screen filter is off. The computer had 2 drives but one is a back up drive so is duplicated automatically. I don't save to Documents - the files I've been working on I transfered across from my previous computer, maybe that causes issues? I shall create a new project in Documents and have another go!
