Vegas go slooooow for no reason?

I made a video in Vegas 3LE, rendered it to a Windows Media 8 file (highest settings). I then relized I wanted to add more audio, so I rendered the just the audio to a MP3, made a new VEG file and plopped in the MP3 and rendered video (with audio). I want to sync up the audio from the MP3 with the audio from the WMV file, but when I play the project in the preview window, I only get about .01 FPS, if that. The origional project plays fine (varies between 10-30 FPS in preview window). What could be causing my slow playback? The video as a Wnidows Media file, or the MP3 audio? I've used MP3's before and had no problem at all. Thanks!

ps: I had to do render the audio and re-import it because LE only supports 4 audio tracks, and i needed more.

Possibly the problem is that Vegas has to decompress both the WMV video file and MP3 audiofile simultaneously. It doesn't seem like it should be having that much trouble though.

However, if you wish to use this method to work on a "second generation" of your project then you should be rendering to DV .avi and .wav files.

Thanks! didn't even think of using the DV AVI's. Would a DV AVI be a problem because my project is in 640x480 (my origional footage was from an older analog capture card that only does 640x480 or lower)?
