Vegas have animate pan/zoom?

I have VideoFactory (this is the less expensive version of Vegas prior to Sony aquiring Sonic Foundry).

Many things are very similar between VideoFactory and Vegas 5.
However, in VideoFactory I can place a slide into the timeline, select its Video FX and select Pan/Zoom. In this effect there are two buttons: Begin and End. I can click the Begin button, alter the pan and zoom, select the End button and alter the pan and zoom again. I can then play the slide and the effect begins with my Begin pan/zoom effect and animates through the slide to the End pan/zoom effect (gradulally zooming in throughout the duration of the slide).

I noticed that the new Vegas 5 does not have these Begin/End buttons but I still need to be able to create the pan/zoom effect I did in VideoFactory.

Can Vegas5 do this and if so, how?

Thank you :-)

Keyframes.
Much more sophisticated than simple end/begin. Would take a LOT of typing to explain fully, suggest consult the manual and there's heaps of project files that you can download from the VASST site to use as examples.

MIke,
Vegas can do that and alot more. When you place an event on the timeline you will see a couple of small icons on the event. One is the Pan/Crop icon. If you click on that you can pan/zoom, etc and rather than only setting a start and end point like VideoFactory/Movie Studio you can set as many keyframes as you want. You can download the Vegas documentation if you want do get more info.
I upgraded from Screenblast Movie Studio to Vegas 5 and the increased features are incredible.

If you haven't already purchased Vegas you can download a trial version and the documentation here:

It is written based on Vegas 4, but perfectly valid for Vegas 5.

Thanks Mike!

Thanks all for your input. I've looked at many other apps (Adobe, Ulead, Pinnacle, etc.) and am now convinced that Vegas is more to my lilking. Key frames is a new concept for me so I guess I'll be having some fun learning some new stuff. :-)

Thanks again for all of your help so far.
