Vegas Hub - can't access downloads

WHE wrote on 9/18/2024, 7:25 AM

Since installing Vegas Pro 22 build 122 I have had trouble downloading stock media.I can log in and search for media without issue but when I select a thumbnail the hub hangs and the download page is not reached. I've tried logging out and back in and also using older versions of Vegas (19 and 21) but the problem is with all of them. I haven't tried to download anything for around six months and I have never had this problem before. I have contacted support but I thought I'd try here (actually, I thought I was trying here first and was surprised when I found I had created a support ticket.

Has no one else experienced not being able to download stock media? Anyone having difficulties accessing stock media. The issue persists. Thanks.

I've just installed v22 build 194 and I still can't download stock media. I'm able to use Text to Speech in Sound Forge without issue but I now really need to be able to download stock media. Has no one else had this problem? Thanks.

No problems here downloading Vegas Content from VP22b194.

Text-to-Speech (and v-v) is sourced from Microsoft Azure I believe whereas Vegas Content is sourced from Storyblocks. Given that the other Vegas Pro versions are not successful at getting Vegas Content, maybe your computer's firewall and/or anti-virus program is creating a block to Vegas Content.

I don’t see any Content to download.

Right now, I see all the content, but downloading to the timeline doesn't seem to work. So I clicked a few times, and when nothing seemed to be happening, I went to the Project Media tab, and all the files were there.

Downloading to the timeline doesn't work either and doesn't suit my preferred workflow. . Also I much prefer being able to see the video at a decent size before deciding whether to download it.

@WHE

It may be caused by seasonal congestion on the AWS trunk from Europe.

Symptoms identical to yours have been reported here annually since 2018, when Vegas Hub was introduced.

All major carriers, including the US telecoms, throttle back consumer-tier downloads and entertainment traffic first, ensuring a clean pipeline for essential business and global data.

The effect on worldwide internet traffic is the same principle as rolling power blackouts; good service in some areas, with no service in adjacent locales

In 2018, I ran some extensive pinghop tests between Denver, CO USA and the AWS GMBH servers in Germany that Magix Vegas uses. The number of backbone hops, normally 6 or less taking about one second during normal conditions, bumps up to 30 during Holiday daytime hours, and then the connection is broken and we must "dial" Magix again.

UHD video downloads, such as those available from Vegas Hub, are gargantuan in size compared to what we normally see on Youtube and social media, and those 100GB downloads are the first thing to get chopped, along with Netflix and online gaming.

Hope this helps; it is one of several possible scenarios for your question, but the coincidental timing with worldwide holiday traffic can't be ruled out, or wished away, at least until February.

Welcome to the discussions!

Yes it works sometimes. I have been trying all this afternoon clicking on insert to timeline and nothing happens.

When I go to preview in hub the same thing as in my previous posts happens. Usually first clip in hub I choose I get a full preview, when I go to a second one it just gives me a spinning icon. All of the sample clips in hub are in motion, but I cannot download any of them most of the time. The last three days I have been troubleshooting more than editing. I do not like to download backgrounds or music from YouTube and put them in my project. Usually the royalty free backgrounds you have to purchase a membership to remove the watermark. I am paying Magix for this. Also my YouTube account gets dinged for copyright infringement.

I agree, I like to see my preview also in a bigger window before I download them.

I have contacted support, no response yet.

Things I have Tried with no success.

1. Update Windows 11, restart PC

2. Uninstall Vegas with Revo uninstaller, reinstall Vegas.

3. Update Nvidea studio drivers released 12-10-24.

4. Tried hub with basic MS video driver just installed, same thing spinning icon.

5, Use KillAllVegas application.

6. Use CCleaner Pro to clean up my system.

7. Ran SFC no errors found.

8. Ran CHKDSK, no errors

I've been using the hub successfully more or less since it started. The issue started several months ago. I've tried at all hours of the day and night. Holiday traffic may be a factor but I don't think it's the underlying cause. Something has changed somewhere behind the scenes. We are no longer getting what we paid for.

Reyfox wrote on 12/11/2024, 3:41 PM

@Sassylola I just tried sending to the timeline and nothing went. But everything was downloaded (and I have multiple copies of the same thing because I saw no real 'action'..ugh) and appear in the Project Media tab, so it also appears in the Vegas Content folder in Documents. When I hovered the mouse over the file that I selected to download, it did say it was downloading. I have fairly fast fiber optic internet, so nothing takes long. And again, it appears in the Project Media every time.

It's a minor inconvenience right now. Hopefully, things will be sorted out sort of soon.

You seem to be seeking a single, targeted cause, rather than a quantifiable explanation.

The reports of sporadic behavior are neither everywhere nor at the same time; therefore, it does not originate in Magix' servers, but somewhere in the AWS Trunk Lines or in your local area. Of that, I am 95% certain.

I am ABLE to download from Vegas Hub successfully during Predawn hours in the US 80220, using Google's Global DNS Servers, 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 instead of my Regional ISP. Give it a try . . .

Give those a try, and see if you experience some change in your locale, which is different than every other locale on the planet. Once again, Best of Luck!!

;?)

Best of Luck!!!

Thanks for the reply. How do I give that a try? I'm using the Magix Hub not a browser. It's not really a user's responsibility to be changing settings to use core functionality of a program. I don't think the problem lies with trunk lines (whatever they are) or my local area. I download stuff from the internet nearly everyday and have no such problems elsewhere.
