Vegas HUB - Downloaded Content Mangement

Candive wrote on 1/12/2025, 8:43 PM

When I download audio and video clips from Vegas HUB, they are saved in the Vegas Content folder. Rather than the actual file name attributable to the clip, the download file name is either AudioClipyyyymmdd-# or VideoClipyyyymmdd-# which isn't very helpful when trying to find the appropriate clip for a project. Is there a setting where I can switch to downloading the actual file name rather than this default based on the day teh file is downloaded?

Also, the HUB doesn't stop you from inadvertently downloading the same file again. As a workaround, I tag each file I download as a favourite. This helps to stop me from downloading content I previously downloaded. It would be nice to have a popup box indicating that the file already exists in the Vegas Content folder.

I would be interested to know how other forum members are managing the content they are downloading from Vegas HUB?

I mainly will download the music more than the stock footage. I'd rather use my own assets. But I will give names associated with the project as soon as I download any asset. I then move them to the appropriate folders.

@Reyfox

Thanks for your feedback,

I've noticed that the Vegas HUB has a download icon and favourites icon which provides a list of all content downloaded or all favourites selected. In additon to Vegas Pro, these include favourites and downloads from the HUB by other Magix products like Magix Movie Studio, VPX and Sound Forge.

Interestingly downloading content using these other systems actually keep the file names rather than assigning a generic name based on the download date like Vegas Pro. The actual name makes it easier to identify the content without previewing it.

When you download from Vegas HUB, the file is saved into the following directory;

C:\Users\name\Documents\VEGAS\VEGAS Content\

Is it possible to change the location of this default directory?

@Candive yes. But it seems when there is a new update that the file location goes back to default.

Thanks for the tip. I think I can live with that. Regardless of what program I'm using, I want all the HUB content downloading into a central location. Cheers!
