Vegas - Is there a School Bell Ringing?

I've used several consumer and Professional NLE systems over the last several years, and for my nickle, Vegas has the lead. I've always dreamt of the day I could afford a $40k+ editing system of my own, and now I can [except that it only costs $600]
The learning curve is not very steep, and though I've only been using it a while, I can do some really impressive stuff with it. However, I've discovered that the best way to learn all the hidden secrets of programs like this, Photoshop, AE is through a quality, hands-on class. Are there any out there? Books are fine, but reading and doing at the same time make things complicated (at lest for my uncoordinated self). I'm in the D.C. area... Suggestions?

No offers to come and teach me for thosands of dollars please.... unless you accept outdated, illegible, third party checks :)

I don't have the links, but there are two sets of DVDs, by dse and Gary Kleiner, both highly recommended - like having your personal tutor on call at any time.

A search for DVD should produce the links ...

I've heard nothing but good things about both Gary's and SPOT's DVD sets. The nice thing about such a method is you can repeat the lesson for the part that's a little fuzzy as many times as you need to.

One big thing to think about schools is usually the lesson only progress as fast as the slowest student. Been there, done that...as the teacher at the corporate level. Not Vegas, Windows and some in house developed stuff.

If you find a place, ask if you can sit in and watch a class before you enroll. Also ask to see in writing exactly what you're going to be taught. You don't want to blow several hundred dollars or more learning what you already know.

I have the DSE set. It is almost like having someone in the room teaching you at your own speed. I have learned a lot and still learn every time I watch a segment for the second or third time. Bottom line is that Vegas is easy to pick up but a lot more to offer as you progress in the learning curve.
