Vegas/Layla SPIDF weirdness

I installed the latest update of Vegas (3.0c). When I hit save I'm now getting an error message saying that the Layla SPDIF output is in use by another application. However, no other apps are open, and I've triple checked to see that nothing is assigned to SPIDF. I'm using the analog outs only. I even went into other sessions where I did use SPIDF and changed them to analog. The default in the Preferences is set to analog (in and out). The error message does not crash Vegas but obviously this is irritating as hell. This is only happening in Vegas and doesn't happen in Sound Forge 6 or Acid 3 (which I've even defaulted to analog I/O). I've also made sure the Layla console is set correctly. I've been using this setup for a long time and haven't seen this one. Does anybody have any suggestions here??

Thanks,

drbam

Check your windows Sound Mapper settings in the control panel and make sure the digital INS/OUTS aren't set to the any of the digital I/O of the Layla. Maybe something within windows is locking those digital outs and not allowing Vegas to have access to them. Just a thought, I recently ran into this same problem with my Gina Cards when upgrading to WinXP and XP defaulted Sound Mapper to the digital I/O's.

Thanks for your reply Red. I'm running 98SE and checked the Multimedia settings and its set for Layla analog 1/2 I/O as default. I didn't see anything anywhere for Sound Mapper in the Control Panels. Its not even an option in the Multimedia settings. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Red:

I changed the default Layla playback to analog 3/4 and the problem disappeared. After checking this out a bit (hitting save after playing back and tweaking some) I then changed the default back to analog out 1/2 and now it seems ok. Perhaps this was just some weird sticky glitch or some damn thing?? I hate it when this happens!! ;-O
Anyway, I'll post again if the problem resurfaces. Thanks again for your quick reply and support.
