I've never seen a Vegas logo. I've seen the boxes and the bits 'n pieces on this sites Wallpapers section . . But, an actual LOGO? . .Beats me . . Is this the one on the SPLASH screen?

I think it used to be around here but maybe that was before the rebranding.

<Edit> Me wrong, it's the SoFo logo that used to get installed with the Vegas 4.0x.

In any case you have to get permission, it'd be both copyright and a registered trademark I'd imagine so you could get hit with a double wammy. I know that sounds silly when you're trying to give them a free plug but for all they know what you're producing they may not want their trademark on, it kind of implies approval.

Don't think they can stop you saying it in words, just cannot use the logos etc.

Me thinks you better contact Sony. Here on the site there's a log-in for distributors, who I guess have access to that sort of stuff, because I can't find any logos och pack shots. In the SoFo days I believe they had those things downloadable.

farss & strom are right. Now they don't let you use their logo w/o persmission. They won't even let you download it! I pu the Vegas 4 box on my site (sinc eit's a site for my SF/Sony Vegsd work). I didn't ask, but if they complain then i'll just take it down (after all, i've been using V4 since the beta, and if they want to tell me only certain people can use the logo then fine, i won't promote them on my site).

That's what sucks about sucessful/big companies. Even if they WANT to let things slide for the little guy they can't (that was form presidence in other cases). :'(

I'm sure if you ask they'll say ok though (they will wannasee the sight first)

Putting a picture of the product on a web site is a lot differnt to putting a company's registered logo on the end of a movie. They cannot stop you from saying" Edited using...." or "Cast and crew flew...", it's a statement of fact. They have no control over that as far as I know.
But their logo is their property. I cannot stop you attributing a work to me by name (assuming it's true) but I can stop you using my signature. That implies consent and/or approval. Everyone for obvious reasons wants to control what they are seen as giving consent to.

Consent often implies (incorrectly or correctly) endorsement of the product as well...And that is a precedent no one really wants to set.

Well, pretty much very company tells you to get their permission before using teh logo, i suppose the bigger problem is that as a number of you have said -- "I have no idea what Vegas logo looks like."

I thought he wanted o put it on his not, not on the end of the movie.
