Vegas Message "Deactivation not successful" when import mp4

Amivideotek wrote on 11/27/2022, 10:05 AM

I get a message "Deactivation not successful" when I import a .mp4 file in Vegas Pro.
I opened the original file without any problems in Vegas Pro, added some effects and rendered (hevc) in Vegas Pro. Now I can no longer open this file without getting this message "Deactivation not successful"!

Log into your account and make sure that you do not have Vegas activated twice?

I think the problem comes from something else.

Indeed I installed Vegas Pro 20 on 2 different computers because I didn't get a problem with Vegas Pro and Ignite Pro solved! But that has since been solved.😃

About the double use I found this :

From the main FAQs, point 9. "How many computers can I use VEGAS Pro on?
You can use VEGAS Pro (14.0 and later) simultaneously on 2 devices. VEGAS Pro 365 can be used on 1 device at a time.

To deactivate a device, so you can activate a different one, visit your MAGIX account > My Products > Show More Details > Deactivate. This option can be used only once a month.

In VEGAS Pro 14.0 or later, you can also choose Deactivate the Software on this PC from the Help menu This option can be used as often as you wish. An internet connection is required."

So if you have a perpetual (one-time purchase) license (not a 365 subscription), just install and activate the software on your desktop and your laptop.

I had Vegas installed on one desktop computer. It worked fine for a long time. I wanted to travel and do some light editing on the road. Knowing I only had one installed version, I tried installing on the laptop. No go. I checked to see what my account said, and it had it installed twice on the same computer desktop computer. Deactivated one and was able to install on laptop.

That's why I suggested you go into your account to make sure...... but if you don't want to.....

I just checked my account and here everything seems to be installed normally on my 2 different computers.

What I did try today is to render in AVC format instead of HEVC format and import back.
And, yes now I can import my rendered video (AVC) back into Vegas Pro without message!

I think there must be a mistake when rendering in HEVC format!

I hope this will be checked!

I doubt if anything will be checked without you providing the information in "B" and "C" from HERE in a new post...

BTW, I just dragged and dropped two HEVC files from two different cameras onto the timeline in VP20 with no problem.

Yes, but in my case it was a video file recorded with a simple Smartphone with poor quality.
I converted this video file in Vegas Pro to black and white and rendered it back in HEVC.
If I want to import this file back I get this message....

I was just trying to create and render a Text Event in HEVC, and import it back into Vegas Pro.
I get the same message back.
So it has nothing to do with the video file I used!

Vegas is activated under the help menu? If so maybe try a reinstall.

Amivideotek wrote on 11/30/2022, 6:10 AM

I uninstall Vegas Pro 20.214 using Removal and reinstall Vegas Pro 20.214.

When I now do the same as before, I now get the right message and I can import my video back into HEVC.
So this is solved with that.😀

Thank you both for your help.

Sony hasn't been involved with Vegas since version 13 well over 6 years ago...
