FYI, an update for Vegas Movie Studio 6 was released yesterday.

Changes/Fixes:
1) VR-mode discs are now supported when importing video from a finalized Sony DVD Handycam camcorder disc. (Only supported under Windows XP SP 2 ???)
2) A problem has been fixed that could cause problems when reading AVI files with MP3-encoded audio.
3) New widescreen and DVD templates have been added to the New Project Wizard.
4) A Use widescreen DVD format check box has been added to the Burn it to DVD portion of the Make Movie Wizard.

You should grab the update to DVD Architect Studio 3 as well.

How do I install my update? Do I let the installer write over the original files? Will I need a new code if I do?

Just let it install in the same directory as your previous version. It will recognize you from your serial number as a valid paid user. My default directory for the install is C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 6.0 - yours should be the same inless you did a custom install.

Yea, it all went smoothly. Just wasn't sure of the procedure.
Thanks.

Second question!
I've noticed that the updated versions do in fact have different serial no's to my registered originals. Do I now need to re-register the updates?

No, if you click on Help ---> About, it will say "This product is licensed to (you)".

OK Gerry. Thanks again.

Most likely the serial numbers are identical. If they weren't then you would have been asked to enter them again. You are assigned a single serial number for the life of the version regardless of how many updates/reinstalls you do. What has probably changed is the activation keys, which are generated fresh each time you install, and automatically assigned to you when you register/activate the software.
