An ad today from the local Frys store:
VMS8 $89.99 minus $30 instant savings minus $30 mail in rebate minus $30 upgade mail in rebate. Actually not totally free. Will cost you the sales tax.

So by my calculation, that will cost you $59.99 + tax. I completely ignore all rebates except "instant rebate at the checkout counter", ... 'cause rebates never work.

I've been rebating for almost 30 years and have had very few problems. I most likely wouldn't have bought MSP if there wasn't a rebate. I hardly ever pay full MSRP for anything.

I've had good luck with rebates, but I think the stores are hoping that you never get around to sending it in. You have to be diligent about it. Either way, I'd pay $60 for MS8.
