Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 16 fails startup, licence check failure.

I recently upgraded my C: drive from 500 GB SSD to 1 TB SSD. The Movie Studio opened with an error stating the system changed and it needed to verify the license. It then reported that it could not access the server. Yet I am able to post this problem in the forum. My system configuration is:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 2700X;
Video card: Ryzen RX580
OS: Windows 10 Pro Build 19042
System RAM : 32 GB
Network Conn.: Ethernet,
Internet 400 Mbs download, 20 Mbs upload
Application: Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 16
version unknown:
I subsequently uninstalled Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 16 in hopes of reinstalling and now the installation fails without notification.

Probably this forum and activation are on different servers.

Anyway go to your Magix account here https://www.magix.com/us/support/my-service-center/ and then to "My Products" and VMSP16. Deactivate any slots (you have two available) so both are empty. Then try opening VMS again but do so with a "factory reset", instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/ Whilst written for Vegas Pro it also applies to VMS. Ticking the box to clear the cache is vital.

Lastly you don't have "Sony" Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 16 as Sony haven't been involved for several years now. It is now just Vegas Movie Studio....
