Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 17 Crashing

sebastian-c wrote on 1/4/2021, 6:13 PM

I just bought the program 17 Platinum (Build 204). The program works and lets me create but when I click on Render as or make movie, none of the other windows show up and the program just crashes. I have tried reinstalling the program, netframework trouble shooting, the I/O and other settings in preferences and nothing seems to help. The program will not let me change the video format either without crashing. Once click on Render as, Make Movie, or Project Properties the program just closes. If anyone can help me with this issue or if there is something else out there to try please let me know. For now I just have to go back to using the free shotcut program.

My Specs: Windows 10

Core: I5

Ram: 32GB

AsusMB: p877-v lx

Video Card: AMD XFX Radeon RX 550

Error I am getting on crash:

I have the same issue, but running Windows 10 Pro x64. VMS 15.0 runs fine. VMS 17.0 crashes on same thing as yours does. I have intel HD Graphic 4000. Did you ever get an answer from Support?

I'm crashing some here too, but not rendering - thank god. Every now and then when I see the hour glass - it just does not go away. I noticed this happens when I'm slicing and time stretching video clips. 9o% of the time it works fine, but every now and then it then it does crash for no apparent reason - regardless of the complexity of my project. When I restart - I can do the exact same thing I did before without crashing too - so I don't think this bug is going to be easy to track down.

Although I switched to a Win 10 PC and have no issues,on my Win 7 PC, the latest update to VMS17.0 build 221. I did find during the render on the Win7 PC, if using UHD and timeline > 1 min, it crashes about 90% through using Magix Codec UHD, but now that I have it running on the other PC, I will use that for most of my projects.
