Vegas MS Won't Accept Sony Digital Cam Video

I took video (.MPG) with my Sony cybershot DSC-W220 digital camera and tried to drag and drop it to a track on Vegas Movie Studio 6.0 without success. Vegas would not accept the video as media. Can anyone assist me with this problem. I saved it on my computer without any trouble if that helps.

Are you sure that the format is mpeg? Suggest to run MediaInfo (free download). It might be mjpeg. I am not sure if SVMS 6 supports that format.

According to the Sony website, it's MPEG1, highest quality is 640x480 30fps. MediaInfo data would be helpful to confirm this.

Thanks for your help. Strangely, Sony Vegas MS 6.0 won't accept video direct from its own brand Cybershot DSC-W220 digital camera. I had to convert it to an .AVI file first.

Can you upload a clip somewhere of the camera footage that is not importing in Vegas?
