Vegas n CD Arch replacement?

Ok, Since Sonic Foundry has killed the MAIN reason I
started doing business with them (CD Architect) and has
disappointed with the new Vegas 2.0a, I would like to know
what OTHER programs out there do about the same tasks:

1. CD Architect:
-Allowing U 2 specify EXACTLY where U want ur tracks to
start and end (by sliding track markers).
-Lets U overlap WAV files.
-Lets U control volume with the envelope line.
-new CDRW support

2. Vegas
-Easy volume and panning
-envelope points stick 2 the WAV files.
-DX plug in support.
-rendering to WAV, MP3

Does anyone know of a program that can do what CD Architect
does.....or a program that does about the same as Vegas
Video? THANKS!!

My solution to this problem has been this. Dispoint all the short
comings lately from SF I still love the ease of use of their software.
Wavelab by Stankberg is an option for mastering on the PC side and
Masterlist is an option on the Mac side. I don't recommend either
compared to CD architect's ease of use and ability to move track IDs
around. I kept my older Ricoh CDR drive, which is supported by CD
architect and have it mounted in the same system with my Yamaha
unsupported drive, both drives are SCSI so this is not a problem. I
use Cd Architect to burn a master CD using my Ricoh drive 2x burn,
then I use Cdrwin to make an image of that CD to my hardrive and burn
additional copies using Cdrwin and my Yamaha drive at 8x. I tried
wavelabs "audio montage" window and it seems like a real pain in the
ass to work, especially if you're use to Vegas's ease of use and
versitility, but that's Stankberg, always high on features and low on
usability. Plus the evelope functions truly suck compared to Vegas and
Cd Architect. So just look for an older Cdr burner which you can
probably pick up for $100 and not have to deal with all the headaches
and learning curves.

I agree with you about CD Architect but I just want to reiterate that
if your drive is MMC compatible (and most new drives are) you can
custom select the drive by going to Select Drive-->Advanced-->then
choose either MMC Atapi or MMC SCSI. CD Arch should then be able to
figure out what speeds, etc.

works for me.

I totally agree with Charles. I own a veloCD and CD Arch burns at the
drive's rated speed of 8x without a single burp.
