Vegas newbie easy questions Volume 1

Hello !
I come from Acid's forum, I'm an Acid user.

I'm trying out Vegas 5.0, to see what could be fitted in Acid, or what could just fit my needs. I've been checking the help files without luck for some points I don't get.

1. How do you specify the project tempo ? I don't wanna do any video on this software, so the "rate" scrub is sort of useless for me. I'm used to Acid's project tempo's horizontal fader, key and signature. Where can I find all this in Vegas ?

2. Is there a way to make Vegas to automaticly load the audio files without looping, timestretching, pitchshifting or whatever, just in One Shot ? And is there a way to fast up the auto-preview process (it takes at least 1 second before playing the file in the explorer, and it detects files as "loop" even when it's not...)

3. Where is the audio file properties docking page ? I've only seen an audio popup properties, that doesn't even let me pitch or loop or timestretch the file... Any Idea where they hided all these functions ?

Acid was made to do those things you ask.
Use Vegas for Multi track audio recording / editing, and Video editing

1.) Go to project properties (the icon that looks like a hand pointing to a sheet of paper - it's at the top next to the save icon and above the mixer). Click on the ruler tab and set the tempo

2.) Go to the Options->Preferences, and to the Editing tab. Uncheck the "Enable Looping on events by default"
I don't notice the delay your talking about, but I think it always repeats previews until you stop it.

3.) Just right click on the event and select "properties"

1. Project Properties in File menu. Vegas has a single tempo - no tempo map. ACID loops placed on the time line are not changed when the tempo is changed.

2. Editing Prefs let you change this.

3. There isn't such a thing.

Vegas has rudimentary support for ACID loops as a type of "import". It does not provide any of the dynamic one shot or loop manipulation that ACID has.
